D’Angelo prepares new album. The neo-soul singer has unveiled the title of his upcoming release to be 'James River'. His manager recently spoke of the album adding that the collaborated efforts will include Gnarls Barkley's Cee- Lo Green, Raphael Sadiq, Mark Ronson and the legendary Prince. This will be D'Angelo's first album since 1999, just under a decade ago. James River is highly anticipated.
Charlie Wilson announces album details. The former Gap Band lead singer unveiled his fifth solo effort will be available February 17th through Jive Records. The album will be titled 'Uncle Charlie' after the nickname that Snoop Dogg affectionately gave to him. The 12 track musical chapter includes production from T Pain and will also feature Snoop Dogg plus Justin Timberlake. No official single has been announced as yet.
Clive Davis annual pre-Grammy party features the return of the Diva. The function will be held on February 6th just moments prior to the Grammy Awards ceremony and will feature a performance from Whitney Houston. The former wife of estranged R&B singer, Bobby Brown, will perform tracks from her upcoming album to be released on J Records in March. Her first single 'Like I Never Left' features Akon but is yet receive much public support.
Justin Timberlake leaks a new track. Titled 'Bigger Than The World', the new song is produced by JT's hitmaking friend, Timbaland with Rob Knox. With big expectations, the follow up to his immensely popular LP FutureSex/LoveSounds is still in the works but can be expected to hit stores this year.
Kat Deluna's new single released. Titled 'Unstoppable' and featuring Lil Wayne, this is the first single of her new album through Universal/Motown. Her last single, a dancehall gem featuring Elephant Man, titled 'Whine-Up' is still a dancefloor burner but critics arent expecting too much from this young pop star.
Ne-Yo squashes rumours. In recent post on his blog and without being sour, the musical whiz kid laid to rest the rumours of his sexuality stating that he was a gentleman to the truest form and that he was not gay. His latest track making the rounds is produced by T Pain and elaborates about a man who hungers to share a passionate night with his lover. The track is titled 'Sweaty'. Leona Lewis signs Autobiography deal. The twenty-three year old pop diva has signed a multimillion dollar deal to write about her life story. The British singing sensation will share her struggles about being a Pizza Hut waitress to being the X-Factor winner in a book to be published by Hodder & Stoughton scheduled to hit bookstores in October. Lewis said that the last two years have been an unbelievable experience for her and to be able to tell people in her own words what it feels like, means a lot to her. Her currently untitled second album will be released just after publication.
Akon reveals his real name. Appearing on the Ellen TV show, The African born songwriter performed his current hit single titled 'Right Now (Na Na Na)'. The singer also revealed his full name which is Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Bongo Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam to the host. Following a turmoiled 2008, Akon said that he looks forward to 2009.
Jazmine Sullivan has arrived. The new R&B sensation signed to J Records has earned five Grammy Award nominations, all coming from her debut album appropriately titled 'Fearless'. With production from Missy Elliot, Stargate, Wyclef Jean and Salaam Remi, the solo efort entered the Billboard Charts at number six and climed to the top spot shortly after. Her current single 'Bust Your Windows' is receiving phenominal airplay from US Radio and TV Networks.
Kanye West shows off new sneaks. The rapper's new line of footwear made by Louis Vuitton recently made their runway debut in Paris. The hip hop star and Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs unveiled another one of the five styles from the Kanye West Collection during the line’s Fall/Winter menswear presentation. The Kanye West for Louis Vuitton Collection will be available at Louis Vuitton stores in June 2009.
Ryan Leslie readies his album. The highly anticipated release from the NextSelection founder is due out February 10th in the U.S. The singer songwriter whose first album titled 'Just Right' was shelved due to lack of support, returns three years later with his new album titled 'Ryan Leslie'. Pioneering an innovative online strategy and receiving over one million hits, the producer showcased his amazing skills via YouTube videos which grew his fans tenfold. Having produced music for Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Britney Spears, Ll Cool J, New Edition and now working with Usher, Ryan Leslie will be released through Casablanca. His current single is titled 'How It Was Supposed To Be'.
